Wascally Wabbits: Off the Menu!

Near the California/Oregon Border

November 7, 2012

A family emergency compelled me to drive north from San Jose to Vancouver on Wednesday. The total trip was 961 miles (1546 km) and took me 18 hours including stops for gas and breakfast.

Before leaving, I slept for 3 hours, then left home at 1:00 AM arriving in Vancouver at 7:00 PM. The wait at the Peace Arch border crossing was only about 5 minutes and the only real traffic congestion was just south and north of Seattle. All in all, it was an easy and, actually, enjoyable drive. The only weather complication was very poor visibility in the Siskiyou Pass at the CA/OR border.

The sun rose near Mount Shasta.

I had breakfast at Elmer's in Grant's Pass, OR.

While Honey Wheat Pancakes are back, wascally wabbit was definitely off the menu. :-)

The Oregon mountains were full of deciduous trees in their full autumn glory.

Too bad it was too dangerous to pull over to take more photos, so I'll have to be satisfied with these trees from the restaurant's parking lot.
